What 'They' Are Saying

I read a great article about what things 'can' work for those online. It's also a blog-based forum, but, the article was in the LA Times...which sparked my attention. Hope you'll enjoy the differing and like viewpoints. Naturally, when we're young, we feel the playing field is much more fair. As we age and mature, we can only hope the playing field is fair on a cerebral level. The physical charm may have taken a few turns here and there. Enjoy the article and we'd enjoy any comments you'd like to share. http://articles.latimes.com/2011/may/23/health/la-he-ok-cupid-20110523
Our dating site is http://www.millionaireinterface.com/
It's part of the major site MillionaireMatch.com.....and shares the member list, which is a huge plus for the more mature set of us. Enjoy your search.

Nice Guys/Gals Shouldn't Finish Last

An acquaintance of mine, upon hearing that I was involved with EDating,
told me about a less than satisfactory experience he had at a meet-up type event.

After perusing the attendees, he quickly identified the few women he wanted to meet. Unfortunately, the women he was interested in were already in conversation and being a mannerly guy and a bit shy, he wasn't willing or able to break into their conversations. He felt that his opportunities were lost.

I suggested to him that he might fare better at a speed-dating event since it's structured to provide a level playing field and permit full exposure to each attendee. The "me first", dog-eat-dog type of person so predominant in our current society is powerless to gain the upper hand at a venue like this.

Had he been at a speed-dating event, he would have had equal opportunity to briefly talk to each person to see whether a mutuality of feeling was expressed and whether there was enough commonality to explore the relationship further.

This "nice guy" will be the first person I invite to our upcoming Las Vegas speed dating marathon.

Just my two cents...How would you advise this person?

Blooming Where We're Planted

We have so many opportunities available to us that it's difficult to choose when it comes to just getting 'out there'.

How can jump-start the process? How can we bloom or even plant the seed? Think of all the things you enjoy doing. Just do them. Without even knowing it, you'll be surrounded with people of like mind and spirit.

Walk, read, see a movie, have a latte, practice your golf swing, have a potluck...

Share your stories if you'd like...and tell us how we can blossom into happier individuals...it's all about sharing.

You 'can' start over

Many of us have dreams of helping others...whether it's to be instrumental in their business success or in their personal success...their happiness. I guess we think 'their' happiness is our happiness. It's about giving. We can be so busy giving that we forget to take now and then. Maybe starting over online to test the waters is a way to build our nerve up again. Or, as I did, have a MeetUp where people can meet people and in the course of all this, we can enjoy the experience, too. Has anyone had an event that was aimed at 'meet and greet' for others? Or know a great story? Maybe, you are the story. It will spur someone out there to start over.

Friendships are valuable

Many use the internet to just explore a unique approach to communicating. Their daily lives are filled with the same circle of people whom they have decided do not meet their 'social' criteria. Short of travelling on a daily basis, discovering new blood and fresh ideas can be achieved on the internet. Dating-site filters allow for a slow process of first sending 'flirts' or some benign signal that starts a course of communication. Both parties can opt out at anytime. Buyer beware, without an honest approach in these first stages, one or both will be disillusioned. Keep your expectations low and your profile honest.

The First Lurker Post

As one who found my soulmate over three decades ago, I'll never be an e-dater or speed-dater.
So why am I here?

I barely understand this realm in which so many of my friends and family dwell. So by agreeing to participate in this blog as a co-author, I hope to gain some insight into this newish dating methodology and, in all honesty, it appeals to my voyeuristic nature.

Please post to this blog because your experience (or lack of it) is unique. We want this blog to inform, enlighten and motivate you to find your soulmate.

Speed Dating Optional for Online Dating

Many people who are online curious...are also enjoying the speed-date venue. A face-to-face experience that allows each attendee an opportunity to make several inquiries of each person. Then, through a 'secret' ballot system, the overlaps will be seen as potential matches and each member will have the opportunity to connect with that person who showed like interest in them. Again, this is should approached with discernment and one should be realistic about their expectations. Many a friendship has blossomed from this forum. See our comments.
