I read a great article about what things 'can' work for those online. It's also a blog-based forum, but, the article was in the LA Times...which sparked my attention. Hope you'll enjoy the differing and like viewpoints. Naturally, when we're young, we feel the playing field is much more fair. As we age and mature, we can only hope the playing field is fair on a cerebral level. The physical charm may have taken a few turns here and there. Enjoy the article and we'd enjoy any comments you'd like to share. http://articles.latimes.com/2011/may/23/health/la-he-ok-cupid-20110523

Nice Guys/Gals Shouldn't Finish Last
An acquaintance of mine, upon hearing that I was involved with EDating,
told me about a less than satisfactory experience he had at a meet-up type event.
After perusing the attendees, he quickly identified the few women he wanted to meet. Unfortunately, the women he was interested in were already in conversation and being a mannerly guy and a bit shy, he wasn't willing or able to break into their conversations. He felt that his opportunities were lost.
I suggested to him that he might fare better at a speed-dating event since it's structured to provide a level playing field and permit full exposure to each attendee. The "me first", dog-eat-dog type of person so predominant in our current society is powerless to gain the upper hand at a venue like this.
Had he been at a speed-dating event, he would have had equal opportunity to briefly talk to each person to see whether a mutuality of feeling was expressed and whether there was enough commonality to explore the relationship further.
This "nice guy" will be the first person I invite to our upcoming Las Vegas speed dating marathon.
Just my two cents...How would you advise this person?

Blooming Where We're Planted
We have so many opportunities available to us that it's difficult to choose when it comes to just getting 'out there'.
How can jump-start the process? How can we bloom or even plant the seed? Think of all the things you enjoy doing. Just do them. Without even knowing it, you'll be surrounded with people of like mind and spirit.
Walk, read, see a movie, have a latte, practice your golf swing, have a potluck...
Share your stories if you'd like...and tell us how we can blossom into happier individuals...it's all about sharing.
